Candice Gribble
Candice Gribble is a 2D animator and illustrator. She primarily specialises in design when working on a project, which include character, prop, and environment design. Alongside this. She is also growing her skills in specialising in animation. This includes rough animation, clean up, and colouring.
Her inspirations include the 2D animated shows Gravity Falls, Avatar the Last Airbender, and Final Space. Artists that inspire Candice include Sean McAllister, Kasey Golden, Rebecca Sugar, and Hayao Miyazaki; most popularly known for being one of the founders of Studio Ghibli
In Candice’s showreel, it includes both still and moving images. It portrays her knowledge of both animation principles and design elements that will help aid future employment in the industry.
Candice’s next step is to continue to create small, personal animated projects. This is not only to continue to practice her animation skills, but to also have prepared as examples if applying for animation jobs, whether it be contracted work or employment. On the side, she will also hire stalls at local markets to sell artwork as prints, stickers, pins, and other items with her designs. This will not only put her name out in the community but is also an opportunity to meet other creatives that could aid in the future.
Another step for Candice is to continue to take on commissions for tattoo designs, along with other types of animation, design or illustration-based work. Doing all this will grow her portfolio and showreel, to not only show animation companies and/or those who will hire as contracted work, but to also grow in the art community to hopefully become more known on social media that could also aid in future employment. These small steps are also essential as it will help her grow as an artist, while also creating working relationships.
